5009 Product Change Notification
Our policy at Valon Technology is to keep our products as consistent as we possibly can so that our customers can rely on continuation of form, fit and function between all units of a specific model type. When it does become necessary to make a change, we will provide advance notice and an appropriate change to the unit model number designation.
The Valon 5009 Dual Frequency Synthesizer has undergone a number of electrical, software, and mechanical updates. The electrical changes were the result of component availability and component obsolescence. The mechanical changes were made to improve manufacturability and efficiency. All of these changes are incorporated in the new 5009a model designation.
These changes are slight and should not affect form, fit, or function of the 5009 in your applications. The main physical difference is the case height (thickness) has been reduced from 0.550" to 0.500". Along with this change is the SMA (x3) connector height relative to the base mounting surface. It has been reduced from approximately 0.277" to 0.250". This should not be a cause for concern in cabled applications but in cases where mating RF components are rigidly attached, then a suitable shim spacer may be required to raise the mounted height of the 5009a.
The only apparent change to the electrical (RF) performance will be a slight (~+2dB) increase in maximum power available. This increase power can be compensated for by setting the ATTenuator value to a higher setting.
Thank you for your continued support of our products.
